Honors College (History)

In September 2006, NTUST initiated the first University Inter-discipline undergraduate program, approved by the Ministry of Education. At that time, Professor Yeng-Homg Perng severed as the Chairman and also was appointed as the director of the Department of Academic Affairs to assist and organize the affairs of the undergraduate program.

 

In February 2008, Honors College was established and approved by the Ministry of Education, and the College included the Graduate Institute of Engineering and the University Inter-discipline undergraduate program. Then, the University Vice President Prof. Ching-Jong Liao served as the Dean of Honors College, and Prof. Geo-Ry Tang, who is from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, severed as the Chairman of Graduate Institute of Engineering and undertook the affairs of the University Inter-discipline undergraduate program.

In August 2008, Prof. Hong-Chan Chang, who was the general secretary of the university, was appointed as the new Dean of Honors College, and Prof. San-Liang Lee, who was the University Dean of Academic Affairs, was appointed as the Chairman of Graduate Institute of Engineering.

In addition, “Jing Cheng Department (University Inter-discipline Department)” was established to transact the affairs of University Inter-discipline Undergraduate Degree, and Prof. Cheng-Kuang Liu from the Department of Electronic Engineering was appointed as the Chairman of the Jing Cheng Department (University Inter-discipline Department).

In February 2009, Prof. His-Peng Lu served as the Dean of Honors College; Prof. Jinn P. Chu was appointed as the Chairman of Graduate Institute of Engineering; Prof. Cheng-Kuang Liu was appointed as the Chairman of the Jing Cheng Department.

In August 2009, Prof. Tian-Hua Liu served as the Dean of Honors College; Prof. Jinn P. Chu was appointed as the Chairman of Graduate Institute of Engineering; Prof. Po-Da Hong was appointed as the Chairman of Graduate Institute of Medical Engineering; Prof. Jeng-Ywan Jeng was appointed as the Chairman of Graduate Institute of Patent; Prof. Chaur-Jeng Wang served as the Chairman of the Jing Cheng Department.

In August 2010, “Graduate Institute of Patent” was approved by the Ministry of Education, and Prof. Chung-Feng Jeffrey Kuo took the position of the Chairman of Graduate Institute of Patent.
